Sure a sextant is fine if your going to do celestial navigation. But if its cloudy your screwed...... GPSs are fine but you should have a chart as a back-up. Gps will plot you to point A to point B, if you have a chart you can double check the water depth along your route to make sure that its deep enough for your boat. Running aground will ruin your day... The upper bay, Potomac isn't that bad for navigation, there are plenty of buoys and such to find your way around. Just keep up on the navigational updates (GPS or chart) and local notice to mariners to make sure all the plotted positions are correct

We are going to the boat show next month...we don't want a walkaround or a dedicated fishing boat. Just looking for a large cruiser that will sleep 4-6 easily and has a bathroom/shower

Should've had the boat hauled out, or run it in some fresh water. ;D The bottom paint looks good though. Outdrives are barnacle magnets. Unless you can haul the boat and scrub it down or run it a lot. Expect to get barnacles. When the water warms up grab a scouring pad, putty knife, mask and fins. Hop in the water and scrub them off. Dude pull yo pants up!! That boat over 30 feet??

Yeah, the weather and time was finally right for the survey...it's sitting in Baltimore so that's where the barnacles are from. It's 36' overall...hopefully the survey comes back ok

Lol, that's not me, that's some kid they had to scrape that shit off He reminded me of a more messican gangsta version of Emelio... We have a deposit on it, and are waiting for the surveyors report. We will prolly keep it down here in VA on the Potomac so I don't have to worry about barnacles.
