For you non-nautical types surveyors report = a highly detailed inspection report. A good one will include but not limited to, engine checks, generator checks, hull inspected for soundness, electronics tested, fuel tanks, water tanks, out drives, railings, decks. Take it out and run it then check everything again while its running. You get the idea. Kinda like a house inspection prior to buying a house.....
So if you buy this boat, you gots somebody to cruise down to where your keeping it?? ;D

Yeah they are gonna truck it down and block it, I'm getting the outdrives and props cleaned and painted before putting it back in the water.
You know anything about Coast Guard documentation? It is a CG documented boat already and the broker was asking me if I was going to re-document it. I think it's basically a federal registration instead of having to deal with Virginia state registration....? Am I right?

You'll have to go through the USCG documentation office. To get the documents transfered over. You can get VA Reg if you wanted to. But you just can't have both..... I haven't dealt with documentation for awhile. Not sure what the differences in taxes for the Fed vs VA would be? This might help: USCG/National Vessel Documentation Center 792 T J Jackson Drive Falling Waters, WV 25419 Toll Free: (800) 799-8362 Main: (304) 271-2400 Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m (Eastern Standard Time) www.uscg.mil/hq/cg5/nvdc/

I think it's up near Martinsburg WV. Might be worth a day trip once you get all the paper work finished up from the purchase.

So we got the boat finally delivered to our marina in VA. It's sitting in the parking lot on blocks til we have some work done to it... We went over today to start cleaning the inside up. The previous owner left all sorts of crap in the fridge and freezer Julie was cleaning out the cabinets when she found this... I'm not to well versed on drugs but it sure looked like a bag of weed ;D Chucked that in the trash so the Coast Guard doesn't get me for smuggling

Morgan tho. ;D The boats still sitting in the parking lot of Occoquan Harbor Marina. hopefully this week the mechanic will get a chance to paint the bottom and do some work to the outdrives. So I can get it in the water

Oh, make sure you check your batteries. Lots of boat owners forget the add water to them. If you have a 24 hr battery charger on your boat it could boil all the water out of your batteries.....

It's got 4 batteries...Once it gets in the slip and the power hooked up I'll check them out. Sucks cuz it has a huge generator on board but I cant run it because of cooling

I borrowed a bass boat from a friend a few years ago. He knew how to run a boat, but he wasn't to familiar with all the upkeep. So one of the conditions of me borrowing the boat was to give the boat an over-all maintenance check. The boat had two batteries, between the two of them I added about a half gallon of distilled water Some of the newer battery chargers have a battery minder. Which is supposed to keep the charger from boiling out the battery.

Went down to the marina today to see if the guy started painting our outdrives... Yesterday, he removed the rest of the barnacles and discovered a cracked Gimble on on of the drives....his rough estimate is 5 grand to fix> He has to pull one of the engines to access the busted part. The crack was right where a bunch of barnacles were so my surveyor couldn't have seen it
