prolly overnights in the bay, maybe a little fishing... Looking at some cabin cruisers or maybe a cuddy. I ordered a book on amazon about boating. After I get it, and read it, I will consider myself a salty sea dog, and you will all have to call me Admiral. I will in turn call you all my Seamen Tarps, I'm assuming that I will need some kind of license? Is it a state thing, national, Coast Guard thing?

As far as the CG is concerned, you'll need a valid ID and all of your safety gear that your size vessel (boat) is required to have. Most states don't require a "boating" license but a few might require some type of a boating course though. Which is a really good thing to do if your a newbie to boating Try going to a couple of boat shows. That way you can check out alot of different types of boats all in one place. There's always ebay USCG= www.uscgboating.org/VA = www.dgif.state.va.us/boating/MD = www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/

I'd go with a smaller one for your first boat. Sea Rays are awsome boats though, well built. If you go with a smaller trailerable boat you don't have to pay dockage fees. That and you can go to where the fish are. Some smaller boats will still have stove, toilet and such. my old boat, back in the day en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USCG_deployable_pursuit_boat

From what I'm reading...A bigger boat is safer. Especially if I were to head into the bay. Also, what if I want to become a shrimper? I need some room ;D
It doesn't matter if it's trailerable or not, since I don't have anywhere I can put the trailer and boat. I checked out several marina rates around here and they aren't to bad. Around here they also have "boatels" they store your boat, inside on a rack. When you want to go out, you just call them and they gas it up for you, set it in the water, and put ice in your cooler. It's around $1800-2200 a year.
The wife looked and there is a boat show in Sept. down in Norfolk we will hit up and see what's going on.

I don't have my captains license, but I still have my boat driving skillz I'd need a license to carry passengers for hire, six or more peeps..... If you want I can come up and give you a mini boat handling course. ;D

... all the boats have GPS or Radar... no charts JUST like Electo markers, they can fail. A chart (or mechanical marker) can't have the batteries/electricity run out.
